WARDEN MESSAGE February 27, 2007
The Embassy requests that wardens pass the following message in its entirety to members of the American Community:
On February 26, three French nationals were killed and a fourth seriously wounded following a shooting incident near Madain Saleh in northwestern Saudi Arabia as they rested next to a highway about 17 kilometers north of Medina. The fourth wounded French national, a 15 year old child, died on February 27. Reports indicate that there were nine people traveling in their party. No further information concerning the perpetrators of this incident or the motivation for the attack is available at this time.
This incident underlines the need to follow good security practices and remain alert to your surroundings at all times. The Embassy urges all American citizens in Saudi Arabia to review the links below to the Travel Warning for Saudi Arabia, the Worldwide Caution, and the Middle East and North Africa Public Announcement.
We will keep Americans advised of any further information that becomes available regarding this incident.
