Obtaining a Visa for Medical Treatment
Medical treatment can generally be pursued with a B1-B2 visa, but additional documents will be required. Applicants traveling for medical treatment in the United States should bring:
- Diagnosis from a physician in Saudi Arabia.
- Appointment confirmation from a doctor or hospital in the United States.
- Treatment cost estimate.
- Evidence of ability to pay for the medical treatment.
The Embassy recognizes that the need for medical travel often arises suddenly, and that visas will need to be arranged quickly. For urgent medical care please schedule an appointment as quickly as possible even if the documents listed above are not yet available. In some extremely urgent cases we can initiate processing of the visa pending the arrival of the documents.
To request an expedited appointment through the VisaPoint website, applicants must first select an available date from the options on our scheduling website. Once you have made an appointment, return to the home page and click on the link to "Request an Emergency Appointment." Please make sure to explain the urgency of the medical treatment. Requests for emergency appointments are reviewed daily.
