Saudi Fulbrighter Wins MIT Competition
Lamya AlAbdulkarim, professor of Language Pathology at King Saud University and Fulbright Scholar at Smith College in Massachusetts, won the Entrepreneurship Development Program competition in “the elevator pitch” category at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) competition January 25-30. AlAbdulkarim’s team also placed among the top three in “presentation of a business plan.” The week-long intensive program featured 17 team competitors judged by prominent MIT faculty.
Alabdulkarim earned a scholarship to attend the competition hosted by MIT Sloan’s Executive Education program. More than 130 people participated, including top CEOs, entrepreneurs and leaders from global businesses and government.
“The program was of the highest quality and was inspirational,” said AlAbdulkarim. “It promotes networking with program members and participants.”
“It was an honor to represent the Fulbright program of the U.S. Department of State at this highly respected program and competition between world leaders in entrepreneurship.”
