Embassy Highlights
Movie Screening for African American History Month
In the spirit of America’s celebration of its African-American heritage and the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America, the Public Affairs Office at the U.S. Embassy sponsored a screening of the PBS documentary “759: BOY SCOUTS OF HARLEM.” The documentary captures the hardships and successes of a young boy scout from the inner city of Harlem, New York. Following the movie, Cultural Attaché Will Owen led a discussion with attendees on diversity in America and the significance for all Americans of the history of African-Americans. Every year, February is African-American history month in the United States, observed throughout American society by activities that recall the history of Americans of African descent, and their role in American political, economic and cultural life.
